Gulf Air will start its direct international passengers and cargo flights between Sialkot and Bahrain on 17th.

Sialkot International Airport Limited Director Safdar Sandal said that Gulf Air has completed all the necessary arrangements for launching its international flights operation from Sialkot International Airport with two direct international passenger flights per week from Sialkot to Bahrain.

He revealed that these international airlines would also bring a quantum of cargo at Sialkot. An advanced Air Freight Unit has also started functioning at the airport to facilitate exporters, importers and cargo agents, he added.

Under the supervision of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the local businessmen had established Sialkot International Airport on self help basis with total cost of Rs4 billion a few years ago, setting a unique example of self help, advising others to replicate it, he said.  Earlier, direct international passenger and cargo flights are already being made to the several foreign destinations including Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Masqat, Saudi Arabia and Sharjah, besides, carrying the Hajj flights operation from Sialkot airport.
