Six kidnappers arrested; abducted persons recovered

ISLAMABAD  - Islamabad police on Tuesday arrested six kidnappers and recovered two abducted persons from a house situated in sector G-12 during a search operation.
The accused had demanded Rs 10 million from the family of abductees. Addressing a well-crowded press conference, Inspector General of Police Islamabad Sikandar Hayat said that Syed Rehman Ali s/o Syed Mohsin Ali was kidnapped last month by some unidentified persons and a case regarding his kidnapping was registered in Ramana police station on December 29, 2013 under section 365-A PPC. He said a special police team supervised by Sub-Inspector Nawaz Gondal was working on this case when Syed Imran, a relative of kidnapee, informed police about receiving a phone call from kidnappers threatening to kill Syed Rehman in case ransom amount Rs 10 million was not paid to them within 24 hours.
Following this threatening message, the IGP said various police teams, including technical experts team, were constituted which tried to trace the location of this specific phone call which was found from slum area in Mirabadia, sector G-12. He said their other calls and mobile numbers used to make calls to relatives of kidnapees were also under observations and most of them were located in Mardan and other areas. He said search teams were immediately sent to this area (G-12) also under supervision of SHO Shalimar Inspector Haq Nawaz and SHO Golra Inspector Muhammad Siddique and informer pointed out a house in Ittefaq Town near Al-Tahir Foundation School where movement of suspects and tinted glass vehicles were observed. This house was raided and inmates started firing at policemen but police teams entered the house under cover of retaliatory firing and overpowered six persons along with weapons who told about presence of kidnapped persons in an adjacent room. Police team safely recovered abducted Syed Rehman Ali and other Syed Ehsan Abbass s/o Syed Hassan Abbass.
The nabbed persons have been identified as Khan Sharif s/o Gul Latif, Gul Zareef s/o Gul Latif, residents of Dir, Qamar Ullah s/o Ghulam Jan, resident of Teemar
Garah, Pervez Khan s/o Altaf, Saeeda Gul w/o Pervez Khan, and Lela Gul d/o Pervez Khan, residents of Mardan.
During the preliminary investigation, the kidnappers told about two of their accomplices who left the house just before the raid and three others who managed to escape during firing on police team. Their names were told as Imran Yunus s/o Muhammad Yunus, resident of Peshawar, Sherzada s/o Roshan Khan, resident of Mardan, Shah Jehan s/o Jendol Khan, resident of Bajur Agency, Akram Syed s/o Chiri Gul, resident of Malakand Agency, and Imran s/o Akbar Khan, resident of Mardan.
On the occasion, the relatives of recovered persons greatly appreciated the efforts of police and said police officers and employees worked hard to trace kidnapees and continuously remained in touch with them for sharing their grief, giving comfort and telling about the progress into investigation.
Responding to the questions of journalists, Islamabad police chief said that Islamabad police have worked out all the terrorism cases from 2008-13. He said that high profile criminals and other target offenders have been arrested which is great milestone of the force.
