Govt alienating banned outfits

LAHORE - Provincial Home Minister Col (retd) Shujaa Khanzada has said that the government has restricted all the activities of banned outfits in the province.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the Home minister said that the Punjab government would take action against the terrorists with the help of intelligence agencies. He said that the banned outfits had been restrained from continuing their activities.
“Lists have been prepared of the persons accused of abetting, facilitating, or being instrument of any terrorist activity and also those who are suspected of these evil actions,” Khanzada added.
He further said the suspected NGOs, seminaries and people involved in making provocative and hate speeches were also being enlisted, however, action would be taken on solid proofs. “Punjab government has affected amendment in the law relating to tenancy, use of loudspeaker, exhibition of firearms and making instigative and provocative speeches to put them under the list of non-bailable offence.
 Not that but the penalty for such offence has also been enhanced considerably,” he continued.
He said the Apex committee at the head of Punjab Chief Minister had been set up to execute the National Action Plan against the terrorists. Corps Commander Lahore, DG Rangars and head of the intelligence agencies are members of the body, he added.
Punjab IGP Mushataq Sukhera told the media on the occasion that search and sweep operation to round up the evil doers had been launched throughout the province. Not that but the government was also carrying out action on the National Action Plan with all sincerity and dedication, he added.
“In the targeted operation by the police, so far, cases against 650 have been registered in different police stations while in the general hold-up more than 8000 weapons have been recovered, and over 25000 suspect vehicles impounded,” the provincial chief of police informed the media.
According to the IGP, as many as 2000 cases of loudspeaker misuse have been registered and 1000 taken into custody for this offence. As many as 328 cases have been registered on the charges of publication of hate material and 200 persons in action on those cases have been taken into custody.
