LHC takes up petition against PAT protest on Mall road

The full bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) has decided to take up petition against Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) protest on Mall Road tomorrow. 

According to details, the Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah of LHC ordered the establishment of full bench on the petition consist of Justice  Aminuddin Khan and Justice Shahid Karim, led by Justice Farukh Ifran Khan. 

Justice Irfan Khan however excused himself from the hearing when full bench sat for the hearing. The bench was reformed with Justice Aminuddin leading it and Justice Shahid Jamil Khan replacing Justice Khan. 

The petition was filed by advocate AK Dogar arguing that such protests can disrupt peace of the country. 

The LHC may issue notices to opposition parties involved in this protest of January 17th. 

Meanwhile, Punjab government has decided to keep the schools and colleges around Mall Road shut because of this protest. 

While addressing press conference, Punjab government spokesperson Malik Ahmed said that such protests are disturbing protest of city and province as whole. 

"Who will be responsible if there will be chaos during protest," asked Ahmed. 

The Education Minister Rana Mashood said that government will decide to reopen the institutions as per situation.
