KARACHI - Loadshedding continues unabated in the City with major power failures striking the areas of Gulshan and Defence. KESC has announced two-hour loadshedding three times a day but committing more than the scheduled time. Three units at Bin Qasim had tripped on Monday evening but were restored later. On Tuesday, the unit number 6 had been closed down, which was restored later in the evening. Loadshedding in industrial sector takes place after 12am. The power crisis is still looming and affecting the daily routine as the City faces power shortage of more than 500 mega watt of electricity. The officials of KESC informed The Nation that KESC had suffered the shortage of 300-350MW electricity whereas the consumption is around 2200MW. The rumours surfaced in North Karachi Sector 12 about reports of fire eruptions. Due to this the Karachiites had suffered with 4 to 5 hours long loadshedding on Monday. Meanwhile residents of Shah Faisal colony complained of six to seven hours of power failure on Monday in three different phases from morning till evening. Model Colony Malir, Korangi Crossing had faced power failure four times on Monday, from 10am to 12pm. Residents of FB Area, Shadman, North Karachi, Liaquatabad said that they had faced the agony on Monday, as there was no electricity for hours. Residents of Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Johar also criticised the loadshedding problems and said that they faced 3 to 4 hours loadshedding on Monday. Clifton residents also complained the same problem and on Tuesday, due to unscheduled loadshedding, routine life has disturbed severely. The residents of Gharibabad, Teen Hatti and DHA also complained about continues power outage.
