Peshawar- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak warned that if the federal government did not provide Rs 3 billion to KP government within a week, they would be on streets to halt the system by protest .

Speaking to a procession to lodge a protest against “excessive” load shedding across the province, Khattak said that he had requested Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to provide Rs 3 billion for purgation of grid station.

Khattak said KPK produces over 35,000 MW of electricity but is given only 13,000 MW as provincial demand is over 24,000 MW.

He said the province sold electricity to federation at rate of Rs. 4 per unit and purchased over Rs.16 per unit.

He added that WAPDA employees were involved in electricity theft. If Punjab can ban wheat to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa then Khyber Pakhtunkhwa can also ban its electricity to Punjab, he concluded.
