Clear policy on INGOs enrolment after Eid: Nisar

ISLAMABAD - Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Wednesday said that a comprehensive and clear policy on the registration of international non-government organizations (INGOs) would be announced soon after Eid.
Chairing a high level meeting at the Ministry of Interior, the interior minister made this announcement besides giving directions on a number of issues of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Passport Office, Nadra and Islamabad Police. Director General (DG) FIA, DG Passports, Chairman National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) and senior officers of the ministry of interior attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the under investigation mega corruption scandals in FIA, law and order situation of ICT, online registration of INGOs and issues of ECL, computerized national identity cards (CNICs) as well as passports. The meeting examined the overall security arrangements of prayers congregations during the last ten days of Ramazan and Eid congregations. The chair stressed that police officers should come out of their offices, visit police pickets and ensure safety of the citizens.
The chair said that online application system should be introduced in Nadra and Passport office so that citizens could avoid long queues. The DG Passports was directed that home delivery of passports should be started from next month so that applicants could get passports at their door steps. The meeting decided that the passport office would clear the backlog of the revocation of citizenship applications as there were complaints from public about delay in the process.
The interior minister directed that senior officers and officials of Nadra enjoying foreign postings from long period of time should be called back and those don't comply with the order, their pays and perks and privileges should be blocked from first of August. He said that a transparent and merit based policy should be formed about foreign postings.
The meeting reviewed the mega corruption scandals being probed by FIA including EOBI scam, TDAP scandal, Pakistan Evacuee Trust Board scam, Benazir Bhutto International Airport, PSO and Haj scams. The chair remarked that justice should be done in these cases and no pressure would be succumbed to. He directed FIA to investigate the cases without any pressure.
