LAHORE - Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association has said that due to failed policies of the previous political governments, country has plunged into trouble in the fields of economy including exports.
To pull the county out from present crises, positive and long term measures are need of the hour by keeping in mind the present state of affairs.
These were the views expressed by Chairman Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association Latif Malik during a meeting on Sunday. The meeting was held to discuss the different ways for arranging the International Carpet Exhibition in October this year.
Vice Chairman Qamar Zia, Carpet Institute Chairman Saeed Khan, Member Executive Riaz Ahmed, Senior Member Malik Akbar, former Chairman Major (Retd) Akhtar Nazir among other were present on the occasion. Addressing the participants, Latif Malik has urged the government to prepare a comprehensive policy so that country's exports could be increased. He said it will boost the country's exports as well as economy.
The Association also urged to government to review the tax policy, which has affected the industry badly. The meeting appreciated the cooperation of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan in connection with holding the exhibition and thanked the TDAP for provision of funds.
He informed that a three-day 36th International Carpet Exhibition will be held in Lahore from 4th October 2018. He said that the annual exhibition provides an opportunity to showcase the best of Pakistan's carpets to visitors and customers from around the world.
He said that the Carpet Association has invited major countries of the world to participate in the event. Presently, Pakistan-made hand knotted woolen carpets in Bokhara, Chobi, Jaldar, Balochi, Sootri, Persian and Kazakh designs are gaining attention of customers the world over for their high quality and unmatchable prices.
"It is matter of great pride for Pakistani manufacturers and exporters of hand-knotted carpets that in all corners of the world there are very satisfied customers having trust and confidence in quality and workmanship," he said and added that Pakistani carpets are among the top carpets in the world.
The chairman said that Pakistani carpet manufacturers are working hard to enhance its demand in international market. He said that due to hard work of Carpet Association, soft image of country is being improved day by day.
He said that the Association always keen for betterment of Pakistan carpet industry, invites suggestions from manufacturers, commercial exporters and foreign customers to create more awareness among consumers regarding Pakistan-made hand-knotted woolen carpets.
