Imran’s nomination papers challenged in NA-53 too

ISLAMABAD - After Karachi and Lahore, the nomination papers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan were also challenged from NA-53 seats in Islamabad.

Pakistan Justice and Democratic Party (PJDP) candidate Abdul Wahab filed the objection to the Returning Officer and Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Adnan contending that he did not fulfill the criterion under articles 62 and 63 with on the issue of Sitawhite and her daughter Tyrian.

The RO summoned the PTI chairman to appear before him on June 18 to submit his reply.

The PJDP candidate has contended that Khan’s nomination papers should be rejected for not being ‘Sadiq and Ameen’. He expressed the resolve to move to the Supreme Court if RO did not reject the PTI chief’s nomination papers.

Wahab alleged that  Khan has a baby girl Tyrian Khan from Sita White without tying the matrimonial knot and has all the record available to this effect. He said that the DNA report into the matter has also been published by reputed news channels and papers and Khan did not fulfill the criteria laid down under articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution and his nomination papers may be rejected.

In this regard, former chief justice and PJDP head Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry had said that he would file a case against Khan’s eligibility to hold public office under Article 62 (1)(f) over allegations that he fathered a “love child”.

Chaudhry had claimed that he had evidence to show that Khan has admitted to being the father of Tyrian abroad but denied the same in Pakistan. He said that his party would file objections against Khan’s nomination papers before all the relevant ROs. The former chief justice said that there is legal precedent for politicians to be disqualified for dishonesty under Article 62 (1)(f) and after receiving documents which confirm the parentage of the child, he believes Khan should not be considered ‘Sadiq and Ameen’ in terms of the Constitutional article.
