Woman dies, body found in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD   -  A woman was killed while her husband sustained injuries in a road accident near here on Tuesday.

According to Rescue-1122, Abdul Rasheed, along with his wife Mumtaz Bibi, was travelling on a motorcycle when they were hit by a speeding truck near canal bridge stop on Tandlianwala-Satiana road. Mumtaz Bibi died on the spot while Abdul Rasheed suffered injuries and was shifted to THQ hospital Tandlianwala.

Meanwhile, a boy who went missing earlier was found dead in a sewerage drain here in the area of Saddar Jaranwala police station. A police spokesman said on Tuesday that six-year-old Saleem, son of Sarwar, went missing from chak 70-GB last evening when he was sent out to buy milk. The parents searched for him and later reported the incident to police. However, some passers-by spotted a body in a sewer and informed area police. The police identified the deceased as missing Saleem, son of Sarwar. The police dispatched the body to mortuary for postmortem and further investigation was in progress.

Impersonator held

Peoples Colony police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested a person for impersonating himself as a police officer. The police at a picket intercepted a suspected motorcycle fitted with blue and red lights and during interrogation, motorcyclist Nadeem Ibraheem introduced himself as a police officer. When police asked him to prove his identity, he could not satisfy the police personnel. However, police have arrested Nadeem and locked behind bars after registering a case. Further investigation was underway.

‘Kissan cards, a revolutionary step of govt’

The Punjab government is playing an active role for welfare of farmers and resolving their issues on a priority basis for promotion of the agriculture sector. These views were expressed by PTI leader Ch Taimoor Ali Khan while distributing Kissan cards among farmers at the office of Assistant Director Extension Mansoor Ahmed in tehsil Jarranwala on Tuesday. He said that the issuance of kissan cards among farmers was a revolutionary measure of the incumbent government towards welfare of farmers.
