ISLAMABAD - Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry dismissed Ishtiaq Ahmad, Private Secretary (BPS-18), from service due to his wilful absence from duty during his period of deputation at Federal Tax Ombudsman Secretariat (FTOS). Ishtiaq remained absent from duty from January 16, 2010 to June 8, 2010 when he was working on deputation with Federal Tax Ombudsman Secretariat Lahore. He was directed to report at Quetta and instead of joining duty over-there, the official sent applications on medical ground and managed to obtain medical certificates, which were found to be inadmissible. The FTO office was directed to conduct detailed departmental inquiry against misconduct and wilful absence on the part of the official and submit report with recommendations. On receipt of inquiry report, the official was issued Final Show Cause Notice and on his furnishing reply and after affording him the opportunity of personal hearing, the chief justice was pleased to impose major penalty of dismissal from service under Rule 4 of the Supreme Court (Appointment of Officers and Servants and Terms and Condition of Service) Rules, 1982.
