LAHORE US national, Raymond Davis will be indicted by the trial court on Wednesday (today) on the charges of killing two youth on a busy road in Lahore on December 27. The hearing of the double murder case against Raymond will take place in Kot Lakhpath jail by the Additional Sessions Judge, Lahore, Yousuf Ojla. As per experts opinion, regular trial of Raymond Davis would commence after he would be formally charge-sheeted for the alleged offence, which is likely on Wednesday. Earlier on March 3 last, the Additional Sessions Judge had rejected the application which sought diplomatic immunity for Raymond Davis. It may be recalled that Lahore High Court on March 14 had observed that trial court may determine immunity question of Raymond if claimed by any side. The LHC CJ while disposing of four writ petitions mainly filed to debar grant of immunity to Raymond and his travel outside the jurisdiction of this court, had shifted the whole issue to the trial court for decision at the first place. Asad Manzoor Butt counsel for Faizan and Fahim family while talking to a private TV channel sounded optimistic about forcefully pleading case against Raymond Davis. He asserted US Embassy failed to present evidence in support of Davis being employee of the Embassy and enjoyed diplomatic immunity. It may be also mentioned here that Raymond had earlier claimed that he killed the two youth in self defence.
