ISLAMABAD - Opening another Pandoras box, incumbent government has initiated an unprecedented move by starting verification process of academic certificates of thousands of federal government employees, it was learnt reliably. The verification process of degrees of federal government employees has been asked to start from upper to bottom level employees and this process would be carried out in different steps, Cabinet Division sources told The Nation. According to the issued letter, sources said, in the first phase high-level officials are asked to submit their original educational certificates to concerned administration department till 20 March. The second phase of verification of the degrees will be started soon after the first phase, said the sources. Since the verification of educational documents of hundreds of members of Senate, National Assembly (NA), Provincial assemblies remains incomplete despite after the passage of eight months, the verification of around 350,000 federal government employees might take years to complete whole process. While, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in an official announcement has directed the Establishment Division that educational certificates of the employees working in all federal government institution may verified authenticity by the respective of institution. The Prime Minister reportedly had also set a two-month deadline from February5 for the verification of educational degrees. A number of attempts were made to seek comments of Secretary Cabinet Division Nargis Sehti on the issue but her cell phone was switched off.
