LAHORE - Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Tuesday demanded the provincial government to address the grievances of the doctors without wasting more time. The ex-chief minister also warned the rulers that the PML-Q and other political forces will join the doctors agitation if the government made any foul move against them. He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of doctors who called on him at his residence on Tuesday. Chaudhary Pervaiz calling the chief minister as self-styled Khadim-e-Ala asked him to resolve the genuine problems of the doctors on urgent basis. He said that doctors should not lose hope, as the PML-Q and the masses were on their side. Calling the Punjab rulers as incompetent, he said that they instead of advancing his governments good work in the health sector have pushed the doctors to come out on roads. Chaudhary Pervaiz reminded the doctors of steps taken for their betterment during his government including the substantive increase in doctors salaries and other benefits. The doctors delegation on this occasion apprised the PML-Q senior leader that currently many doctors were being paid even less than the salaries his government had approved. Chaudhary Pervaiz claimed that due to attractive packages and other offerings there was virtually zero brain drain of doctors in Punjab during his government while it was the other way round under the present set up. He condemned the Punjab government for putting doctors in jails and for framing false cases against them. He claimed that due to mishandling of doctors issue there were thousands of doctors in Punjab queuing up for overseas jobs and by now 7000 doctors had already migrated to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The PML-Q leader maintained that doctors left in the province were either out on roads or treating patients under a constant fear of being booked under case.
