ISLAMABAD - The Election Commission of Pakistan has ordered stern action against the people involved in illegally increasing registered voters.
After publication of Preliminary Electoral Rolls, MNA Sardar Muhammad Yaqub Nasir and Balochistan Assembly Deputy Speaker Syed Mattiullah Agha made complaints to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) about abnormal increase in the registered voters in Tehsil Dukki, District Loralai, the ECP said on Thursday.
It said the ECP took immediate notice of the issue and ordered the Nadra and Balochistan Provincial Election Commissioner to look into the matter and report immediately. The PEC conducted an inquiry through the Loralai District Election Commissioner, which confirmed that such abnormal increase had been noticed.
Moreover, the Nadra conducted a detailed analysis of the complaints using their biometric database and revealed that thousands of Form-Alif and Form-II were filled in by a few individuals to migrate voters across Pakistan to Tehsil Dukki, District Loralai.
The Nadra added that the same had been observed in Kachhi, Lasbela, Jaffarabad, Naseerabad and Khairpur where voter migration was carried out without the consent of voters.
The Nadra has issued the names of individuals involved in the malpractice through their fingerprints pasted on Form-Alif and Form-II.
They are identified as Olis Khan, Attaullah Habibullah, Muhammad Ilyas, and Mai Shenal. The ECP has ordered the authorities concerned to take the culprits to task to ensure transparency and fairness of the Electoral Rolls.
