Lawless Larkano

The constant state of lawlessness in the upper and lower Sindh districts, especially, in Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kandh Kot/Kashmor, Jacobad has made the life of natives miserable. These districts have produced a high degree of lawlessness and banditry. People are being kidnapped; they are being killed in tribal clashes, they are being harassed and tortured both by so-called spiritual charlatans and Police but there is none to come to their rescue. The pity is that the government is not visible anywhere in these ill-fated districts. The government officers are there only to mint money and enjoy the perks and privileges.
Indeed, my home district Larkano (mistakenly written as Larkana) was never so lawless as it has been made nowadays. Even during the draconian days of dictators who unleashed their tyranny upon the people of Sindh, in particular, Larkano, the present day
lawlessness was not existing. People are passing their days in misery and fear.
The business community, lawyers, educationists, doctors, peasants, labourers and all others are in the fear of bandits, target killers and extortionists. The present reign of terror and lawlessness began a few months ago and there is no one to restore law and order in this historic and culturally rich district of Sindh province. It seems that certain forces have an agenda to plunge this district also in the tribal clashes as is the case in Shikarpur, and Jacobabad rival tribes men equipped with sophisticated weapons. They are seen patrolling in their respective ‘no go areas.” From the prevailing lawlessness in my home district, it appears that our provincial rulers have shut their eyes to the reality and they are not telling the truth to the President of Pakistan. However, I appeal to the President of Pakistan to take notice of lawlessness which has been wrought upon this, once a proverbially peaceful, district of Sindh province and direct strict action against those police officers and outlaws who have made the life of people miserable in Larkano.
