ISLAMABAD – Tanzara Gallery opened up the most recent works of one of Pakistan’s most renowned modern masters, Wahab Jaffer to the audience Friday in which the artist successfully captures the mood and attitude of the women.
An intense exploration of colour and form has always been a hallmark of Wahab Jaffar’s work. In this exhibition the artist furthers his creative experimentation. The paintings on display contain a new wave of energy. Also on exhibition are his drawings that contain intricately worked surreal forms.
Wahab Jaffar is one of Pakistan’s most respected abstract artists. His work has been extensively exhibited in solo and group shows, notably at the Asia, Pacific Museum in Pasadena, California, at the National Art Gallery, Islamabad, and at the art gallery of Peel’s, juried, exhibition in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, as well as at the National Gallery of modern art, Mumbai.
The paintings on display are bright, inventive and symbolic.
He successfully captures the mood and attitude of the women on his canvasses. His smooth lines, colour coordination and balanced compositions render the image in a sharp and effective manner, said Noshi Qadir of Tanzara Gallery.
She believed Jaffar is an artist of imminent stature who has been exhibited extensively at home and abroad. His bold and adventurous style has a strong identity and his paintings exude a refreshing energy as he continues to simplify the female form and explore the richness of a full palette.The exhibition will continue till March 26, 2013.
