RAWALPINDI – The second day of the 13th Women’s Week, organised at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), kept up the vibrant spirit of the first day. The participants, audience and the organisers were all charged up to set the ball rolling on the second day following a highly pleasurable and thriving on Friday.The second day of the Women Week started with Qirat and Naat Competitions. Qari Najam Mustufa graced the event as the chief guest. The judges for the Qirat competition were Qari Saleem Naeemi, famous Naat Khawn and Qari, Lutfullah Saqib, Member Sharia Board, Dr Shehzadi Pakeza, and for Naat Competition Sara Akhter Hashmi, Khalida Mazhar and Riaz Qadri.  The participants mesmerised the audience with their soulful voices. In Qirat competition, Hafiz Muhammad Tayyab of Punjab University got first position while Muhammad Asim of Sarghoda University and Muhammad Yahya of University of Peshawar obtained second and third positions respectively.In Naat competition, first prize awarded to Asad Aftab of Sargodha University, while second was given to Muhammad Ansar Ali Zohri of Islamia University Bahawalpur and third was won by Faiza Faiz of FJWU but withdrew in the favor of Safdar Ali Kazmi from Punjab University.  On the overall best performance Dr Shehzadi Pakeeza, Head of Islamic Studies awarded trophy to Sargodha University and distributed prizes among the winners of the competitions. It’s the need of the hour that we should focus on Islamic teaching and teach good values to our students who are the future of Pakistan. She added. The theme of the painting and photography competition was “Humanity and Human Rights”. Three hours were given to students to complete their paintings. Students from eight universities participated and brought out the best from their imagination to the sheet and canvas to comply with the theme. Chief Guest of the ceremony was Dr. Nargis Khalid while Rashida Fareedi, Sana Munir and Tahira were appointed as the judges for painting competition. According to the judges Maryam Nazar from University of Peshawar was honored with the first prize, Punjab University’s Zareen Ashraf stood second and Amna Khan from Punjab University, Lahore was given third prize. The participants exhibited immense talent and potential through work.In the thematic photographic competition Kashaf Shah of Punjab University was the winner of the first position and second position went to FJWU but being the host institution it withdrew in favor of Zahid Mukhtar of Bahauddin Zakariya University and third position was also awarded to Amna from BZU, Multan. Dr Nargis Khalid while speaking as chief guest congratulated the students for their outstanding performance. She lauded the dedicated efforts of FJWU to provide its own students and other universities of the country a forum to reveal their talents in areas equally important as education. The judges also appreciated the exemplary art work of the students On the Second Day of Women’s Week Verse Recitation (Bait Bazi) Competition was organized in new auditorium. As ten teams took part in the competition which was aimed at promoting the love for remembering great poetry among the youth. The judges for the event included well-known poetess Shamim Ikram-ul- Haq, Dur-e- Shahwar and Ms. Mehmooda Ghazia while Nisar Nasik was the guest of honor. The first prize was obtained by Punjab University, Lahore. Second position went to Sarghoda University and International Islamic University claimed third position. As a special treat, at the end of the program Nadeem Fakhar entertained the audience by reciting a few of his poetic verses.Second day of the Women’s Week concluded with enthralling performance of the participants in the singing competition. The competition was divided into two categories. Ijaz Baloch, Imran Rushdi and Junaid Sami were the chief guests. The judges of singing competition included Sheraz Haider, Nayyer Inayat, and DJ Maani.On the third day of the women week mushaira, bilingual declamation and drama competition will be held.
