HAFIZABAD - Thousands of local citizens have protested against inordinate delay in the issuance of passports.

According to the applicants, they had submitted applications after depositing normal and urgent fee in the District Passport Office but after the lapse of four months, passports have not yet been issued, causing them a lot of problems and inconvenience. Most of the applicants are intending to visit Saudi Arabia and other Muslims countries for performing Umra and pilgrimage but due to non-issuance of passport they have been facing multiple problems.

When contacted, the Assistant Director Passport Hafizabad said that complete data of the applicants have been sent to the head office promptly and the delay was being caused by lack of printing in the head office. According to an official source, more than 5,000 applicants had applied for passports four months back but none of them has been issued passport so far.
