LAHORE – JI Chief Syed Munawar Hasan Friday termed the regularisation of the services of thousands of contractual government employees by federal and provincial governments at this stage as political bribe and pre-polls rigging. He urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to take notice of the issue.
He said that large number of contractual employees was not getting salaries for months due to the poor financial position and if they are regularized, it would become a permanent headache for the next government. The JI chief objected to the inclusion of Dr Hafeez Sheikh’s name among the official nominees for the caretaker prime minister slot. He said this had been done under the pressure of international financial institutions and it so appeared that the ruling alliance and the opposition would agree on him in total disregard to the national interests.
He said only time would show how far the ECP was able to implement its decisions and in providing a neat and clean leadership to the nation.
Hasan said that the PPP’s new election manifesto promising Roti, Kapra and Makan was a joke. He said that the same had been the PPP’s slogan since inception of the party. He said the masses would play an important role in the next elections and they must elect the JI candidates to ensure the country’s development and for a bright and secure future for the nation.
Meanwhile, JI Secretary General Liaqat Baloch urged the electorate to rise above party and vote for the JI candidates known for their honesty, integrity and competence, in the larger national interest. He also impressed upon all political and religious parties to issue tickets only to the men of character who could not compromise on national interest. He said that in making seat adjustment, the JI would give preference to the parties who carried out the process of internal cleansing and issued tickets to honest people.
