LAHORE – Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Amlish has suspended crackdown on unregistered motorcycles for a week.

During the weeks-long tenure of the former CCPO Amjad Javed Saleemi, the city police seized more than 30,000 motorcycles during the so-called campaign, which given a wonderful opportunity to the corruption-riddled police to min money from the innocent citizens in the name of checking of documents of the two-wheeler. The policemen also extorted bribe from the motorcyclists before handed over the bikes to them. the so-called campaign was widely criticised.

According to a police spokesman, the newly-appointed police officer further said that the police would have fight against crimes and terrorism with new passion in order to bring the criminals to justice.
