ISLAMABAD  – Due to sheer negligence of doctors of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), a newborn baby admitted in Mother Care Hospital lost her life. The infant was born in Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi and was shifted to PIMS in critical condition caused by intestine infection and jaundice. Ideally, she was to be kept in ventilator however due to the shortage of ventilators the condition of the baby girl worsened.
According to the ECG report, the baby was alive, but the lady doctor who was to attend to her was not present on duty as a result of which the infant expired. Parents of the infant have held the PIMS’ staff and Surgeon Nadeem Akhtar responsible for the death of their daughter. They have also filed an application with Director Mother Care Hospital to conduct inquiry of the matter.
