LAHORE - Leader of the Opposition Raja Riaz is waiting for a nod from the Presidency to get back to Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif who has done his part of the job by giving two names for the caretaker chief minister.

“I am waiting for a signal from the Presidency to have further discussion with the chief minister over the caretaker set up,” Raja riaz told a group of reporters in an informal chat on the issue in question.  Punjab chief minister has put forward the names of Justice (r) Amir Raza and Khawaja Zaheer, a former bureaucrat, for the slot of caretaker chief minister.

Raja Riaz has floated the names of Justice (r) Khalid Mehmood and Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi for the purpose.

As per sources, a decision on caretaker Punjab chief minister is likely on Saturday (today), as the top PPP and the N leadership is engaged in hectic negotiations to evolve consensus over the names. PM has convened a meeting of four chief ministers at Islamabad on Saturday to sort out issues relating to same-day dissolution of assemblies and the ensuing caretaker govts.
