Shahbaz & Co board Metro to praise development ride


LAHORE – Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif along with lawmakers and officials travelled on a metro bus from Ittifaq Bus Station to Civil Secretariat where he chaired a cabinet meeting Friday.
Senior Adviser Zulfiqar Khosa, Senator Pervaiz Rashid, ministers, special assistants, advisers, chief secretary and IGP were among the travellers. The passengers thanked the chief minister for metro bus launch.
“President Asif Ali Zardari-led federal government has ruined the country by plundering the national wealth,” the passengers complained.
Sharing his government feat with passengers, the CM vowed to continue his mission of development saying that the PML-N will bring prosperity if re-elected.
He said, “Even a small house is not completed in eleven months whereas we have completed a masterpiece like metro bus.”
Later, the the Punjab cabinet unanimously adopted a resolution to appreciate the network of development projects laid down by the government in the province as well as for rendering record services to the masses.
Presented by Senior Advisor Sirdar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, the resolution eulogised the projects executed by the Punjab government for public welfare.
Speaking on the occasion, Khosa said that the Punjab government stands much ahead of the federal government and the other provinces in terms of development and progress in Punjab and that is being acknowledged not only nationally but internationally. He said that after the report of Transparency International, now Aghiyaar are forced to admit the hard work, good governance and transparency of Shahbaz Sharif.
Cabinet members praised the chief minister. “We are individually thankful to Shahbaz Sharif that he provided us guidance through his acts and deeds and presented practical example of austerity and made us realize from this fact that the secret of dignity of human and success lies in the help of downtrodden and deprived segments of the society and service to ailing humanity. We are thankful to the people of province who expressed their confidence in the Punjab government.”
Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said new chapters of commitment and determination have been written during flood or dengue in the province. He said that revolutionary reforms have been introduced in education, health and other sectors. He said that transparency and merit has become the hallmark of Punjab government. The Chief Minister said that he and his entire team is satisfied after five years that we have served the people selflessly and we are proud to say that we are successful in the court of people. He said that declaring of metro bus project, ujala programme and laptop scheme transparent by Transparency International is a matter of pride not only for Punjab but for the entire country. He said that no government presented itself for accountability voluntarily during 65 years history of the country whereas we asked Transparency International to judge the transparency. He said that this culture should be spread to every nook and corner of the province. He said that in a country where corruption is rampant, maintaining transparency is a big achievement. He said that on the other hand, Transparency International wrote letter to different personalities to provide proof of corruption but they could not present any proof in support of their baseless allegations.
He said there is a need of collective effort for ensuring supremacy of law, elimination of corruption and improving law and order situating. He said the journey of progress and prosperity of the nation is not easy. He said that the destination is difficult but he reiterated that this goal can be achieved through commitment and determination.
