Succumbing to need

For the last few years people in Pakistan have been dreading the long hot summers. These were happy months, with long afternoon snoozes for children and the elderly, but now they have become continuous torture, with no electricity. The people who have unending supply of money (corrupt officials) can still enjoy these months, but for the lower and middle classes they have become unbearable.
Loadshedding has affected everyone’s health, as lack of sleep makes you prone to more disease. With so many companies working on US and UK timing (call center jobs) it is usual for some to be sleeping during the day, which is made impossible by lack of electricity. How can Pakistan improve or develop, when we are deprived of this basic need? High electricity bills, no gas in winter and no electricity in summer are driving everyone insane. With neither electricity nor gas, this government has driven us up against the wall.
