LAHORE  - Experts at the inaugural session of international conference on rehabilitation sciences say that almost five million people in the country have been facing physical and mental challenges.
“The demand of professionals in the field of physical therapy is increasing day by day. research outcomes about all aspects of rehabilitation sciences should be shared at all levels to overcome the current challenges in clinical practice,” the speakers stressed at the three-day moot arranged by Riphah International University on Saturday.
The first international conference, themed ‘Evidence Based Rehabilitation for All’, is aimed at bringing together leading academic scientists, researchers and scholars to share their experiences. The moot focuses on clinical hands on skills and learning enriched with expertise of national and international scholars.
Federal Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal was the chief guest whereas noted personalities including Dr Marilyn Moffat, President of World Confederation of Physiotherapy, US; Dr Fatma Abdel-Fattah Mohammed Hegazy form Egypt, VC of Riphah University Prof Dr Anis Ahmad; Prof Dr Susan Edwards, Executive Director Riphah Assadullah Khan; joined in.
Ahsan Iqbal said the government was serious in making Pakistan prominent among the world. He praised Riphah University for taking remarkable step in physical therapy field. He said Prime Minister would soon announce the vision 2025 and they wanted the country among the top income countries in the world. He said women were playing important role in the development of Pakistan. He urged foreign delegates to deliver this message to the world.
Principal Riphah College of Rehabilitation Dr Syed Imtiaz Hussain said that the varsity fostered the outcome based education with mastery of clinical skills and inter disciplinary approach for rehabilitation professionals. It also emphasizes to help improve quality of life for people with impairments and disabilities and through its actions facilitate rehabilitation input to international health organizations. He said Riphah College of Rehabilitation Sciences Lahore was committed to deliver the best in the field.
