LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed the relevant authorities to ensure that the benefit of substantial decrease in the prices of vegetable oil and ghee is transferred to the citizens and the new rates are adhered to.

Addressing a meeting of Price Control Committee through Video Link at Civil Secretariat on Sunday, he said all institutions concerned should work efficiently to ensure that the citizens benefit from the decision of reduction in prices. He said no compromise would be made on quality.

The chief minister appreciated the performance of ministers, chief secretary as well as political and administrative team with regard to reduction in prices.

He also constituted a high level committee comprising provincial ministers Muhammad Shafiq, Bilal Yasin, Farrukh Javed, Nadeem Kamran, Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police and concerned secretaries for bringing down the prices. The committee will monitor the steps taken in this regard on regular basis.–Staff Reporter

Secretary Industries gave a briefing on the measures taken for reducing the prices of vegetable oil and ghee and said that in future it will be compulsory to mention the price, quantity and ingredients on the packets of vegetable oil and ghee of all brands.

A scrutiny committee has also been constituted with regard to the prices. Provincial Minister Bilal Yasin, Ch Muhammad Shafiq, Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police, concerned secretaries, Commissioner Lahore Division, District Coordination Officer Lahore and concerned officers participated in the meeting through video link.
