LAHORE - The Christian Progressive Movement rejected the compensation package, saying “We need justice, not aid”. According to some TV reports, the CPM said that money could not be a substitute to life. Joseph Francis, the human rights activist, said that the present government was their enemy and they did not demand anything from it. He said it had badly failed to provide protection to the life and property of the masses and especially of the minorities.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced a compensation of Rs five lakh each for those who had lost their lives in the suicide blasts while Rs75,000 would be given to the injured. The chief minister said that the government would not leave the victims alone in this tested time. The government appealed the masses to be patient and not destroy the public and private property.
