Abid Boxer still abroad, says FIA chief

Lahore: Director Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Interpol Tariq Nawaz on Friday rejected the reports of arresting the ex-Punjab Police Officer Abid Boxer, wanted in over a dozen cases of murder, attempted murder and land grabbing.

During a hearing of the petition in connection with the protection of Abid Boxer at Lahore High Court, he said that no law enforcement agency has yet brought the accused back, as he is still abroad.

“The rumours circulating on this count are baseless and unfounded", he added.

Earlier, a petition was filed in Lahore High court for the protection of the accused.

The petitioner took the plea that ex-police officer was in the custody of Punjab Police. “it is feared that he will be killed".

The hearing of the case was adjourned till March 28 after the statement of director Interpol FIA.
