Islamabad: The fate of installation of Rawal Dam Sewerage Treatment Plant to prevent the pollution is still hanging in the balance due to the adamant attitude of Punjab government.

The project which was planned in 2012 and Punjab government has not made payment of Rs 700 million it committed.

The administration with the help of CDA on 4 tributaries of Rawal Lake had prepared a PC-1 to install treatment plants at a cost of Rs 2.2 billion with a contribution of Rs 700 million from Punjab government which has not been paid and the project is pending due to the indifference of the Punjab Small Dams authorities.

Following the taking of Suo Motu notice by the Supreme Court of Pakistan the district administration of Islamabad and other institutions are now alert. All stakeholders have decided to initiate work again on the Rawal Dam Sewerage Treatment Plants.

On the directive of the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, a meeting is convened for today of all stakeholders, Metropolitan Corporation, CDA, ICT, Punjab Small Dams and others to remove the bottlenecks hindering the implementation of the project.
