ISLAMABAD - Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Thursday said that the government had no prior information about the Raiwind suicide attack that took lives of several police personnel and citizens.
Talking to the media, he said that security institutions in most cases have had prior intelligence about terrorist incidents but they had no clue about suicide attack that took place at a police check-post set up near religious gathering in Raiwind, Lahore.
He, however, said that a major loss was averted in the attack because of the timely intervention of the police and proper security arrangements. “Police personnel averted a major loss by scarifying their lives,” he said paying tributes to the martyrs.
The minister said that the law enforcement agencies were alert to the security and few terrorism incidents would not affect peace in the country. He said that security arrangements for Pakistan Super League final in Karachi were up to the mark and the suicide blast would have no effect on it.
