LAHORE - A man involved in more than 80 criminal acts was gunned down in what the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Sadar Division claimed an encounter at M-Block in Sabzazaar police precincts late on Friday night. The deceased was identified as Abdul Qadeer alias Lamba, resident of Shahdara Town. According to Sabzazaar CIA police personnel Lamba was involved in 80 cases registered at various police stations of the provincial metropolis. CIA Inspector Basheer Niazi said Lamba was on police remand and was in CIA custody for the last five days. During preliminary investigations, he said, Lamba revealed about his two others accomplices including Masood Khan and Usman Khan, having Afghanistan origin, who had been hiding in a home located in M-Block. Last night, CIA team comprising of nine officers along with Lamba raided the pointed house about 1:00 am, the Inspector Basheer further said. According to him, the accused hidden in the said house opened indiscriminate fire on police contingents but unfortunately their accomplice became the victim of their fires as he was in front of the CIA team. We mere went to arrest his accused who opened fire on police which was retaliated but it was clear that Lamba received a bullet fired from his own accomplices, he further added. CIA sources, however, claimed Lamba was in CIA Nawankot custody from some days back and was later gunned down in a staged encounter. On-duty police officer at Sabzazaar ASI Nasrullah said a case (438) under sections 351, 186, 302 and 324 of PPC has been registered against Usman and Masood with no arrest till filing of this report. Later, the body of the deceased was shifted to the city morgue for autopsy. Further investigations are underway.
