LAHORE (APP) - Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said the government was making an all-out effort for the welfare of the poor and destitute but it was also expected from civil society to share the responsibility. Talking to renowned pop singer and philanthropist Abrar-ul-Haq, who called on him at the PM House here Saturday, the Prime Minister said the government had initiated a number of programmes including the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) yet a great deal had to be done for the poor and downtrodden. The Prime Minister said the forthcoming federal budget would be pro-poor and focused on ensuring basic needs to the common man. Earlier, Abrar-ul-Haq apprised the Premier of social welfare activities of his trust. He said his efforts were aimed at welfare of the poor and needy.
