The subject of Fine Arts is being taught in many a college in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The classes of Fine Arts in Islamabad are available only up to the bachelors level but in Rawalpindi, the subject is taught right up to the masters level. The students of Islamabad cannot opt for this subject as no college offers M.A. Fine Art classes. But of late, this subject has become very popular and the Punjab University and the Lahore College for Women, two Lahore-based institutions, are even offering studies in this subject up to even M. Phil and Ph. D. A number of scholars have already received their PhDs in this subject. It is a pity a university like the Quaid-i Azam University, Islamabad is not offering this subject. Naturally, the Islamabad students who wish to study this subject at advanced levels either have to go to Lahore or somewhere else, say outside Pakistan. I request the Ministry of Education to introduce the subject of Fine Arts at MA and Ph. D level at the Quaid-i Azam University, Islamabad as soon as possible. -DR. NUZHAT PERVEEN, Islamabad, May 15.
