TCP awards sugar tender

KARACHI (APP) - The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) awarded tender for import of 100,000 Metric ton of Sugar to the lowest bidder. A TCP official said here that in response to TCPs tender for import of sugar, opened on Saturday M/s. Yunnan Coal Chemical Industry Group Company Limited China quoted the lowest price of US$ 488 PMT C&F. He stated the offer was found in conformity with technical specifications of PSQCA and tender terms and conditions. TCP accordingly awarded the tender for import of 100,000 MT to lowest bidder as per PPRA Rules 2004, the official added. With award of this tender, TCP has so far finalized the contracts for 675,000 MT sugar, being imported in pursuance to the ECC of the Cabinet decision. Out of this, a quantity of around 200,000 MT sugar has already arrived in the country and is being sold through the outlets of Utility Stores Corporation. The tendering process to meet the assigned target for import of sugar by TCP is continuing and two more tenders, each for import of 200,000 MT, already floated, are due to open on 22-05-2010 and 29-05-2010 respectively, the TCP official added.
