KARACHI - Additional District and Sessions judge (West) Syed Akram-ur-Rehman on Monday acquitted the accused in Shershah bridge collapse case.The court allowed the application moved by the accused under section 265 (k) of Cr.P.C for their acquittal on ground of in-sufficient evidence against them.The court after hearing the arguments on application ordered acquittal of accused including former chairman of National Highways Authority (NHA) Altaf Ahmed Chaudhry, former NHA chairman Maj-General (rtd) Farrukh Javed, Directors of Ms Engineering Consultants International Limited Zaheer Mirza, Khaild Mirza and Naveed Mirza for want of evidences. The accused alongwith others were booked in the case registered at the SITE-A police station following the collapse of a portion of Shershah bridge on Sept 01, 2007 in which 5 persons were killed while 14 others sustained injures.
