Dozens of protesters put behind bars


VEHARI - In the wake of a protest demonstration against power outages, police have registered cases against various protesters and arrested dozens of them for damaging public property in the precincts of Danewal police station.
The Irked people hailing from Vehari and its far off areas had held a protest demonstration against Wapda, set vehicles on fire and damaged political parties’ offices. The enraged people also assaulted the DPO Office as well. Resultantly, the police launched four FIRs. Three of them were registered on the complaints of Mepco officers, police officers, and Mian Saqib Khurshaid, the former tehsil nazim.
In the complaints, it was said that the Vehari Traders Alliance had incited the people for protest. Dozens of protestors have been put behind bars. According to Media Coordinator Rao Mubeen, the district police have assigned special task forces to arrest the protestors who destroyed the national properties. Sub Divisional Officer Sheikh Tariq Jameel said that protestors had destroyed each and every thing and looted all the precious articles from the Mepco offices. “Now we are not able to maintain our record as we have no unit books for monthly billing,” he said.
Irshad Husain Bhatti, the president of the Trader Alliance, said, “We just called for peaceful march against loadshedding but after the conclusion of the march, some trespassers entered into the crowd and drove the crowd toward violation.
