As a society we have emerged as intolerant towards minorities; patriotism is only reflected in wearing a green shirt and carrying a large flag on March 23 or August 14.
In Pakistan, everyone is for sale, it appears we have proved to the world that we can sell our loyalties for a few dollars, disgracing the sanctity of our country. Here bribery thrives at all levels, we have no belief while we believe only in our own personally defined cast or creed. Jobs are not given on any merit, qualification, experience or education but as a favour or ‘recommendation’ from a strong political party or government functionary. Lucrative appointments are given to family and friends!
Brother is killing brother, anyone could be a terrorist, and inflation and joblessness have driven us hard against the wall. With all this, we talk of change? We should make sure what we are asking for, as we are all steeped so deeply into the swamp of corruption, that it would be hard, if not impossible, to get out of it. Let’s not blame only the politicians and government, if we had all not been a part of the corruption, they would not have been able to get away with it so blatantly.
