The renowned Pastor of the Church of Pakistan Lahore Diocese Reverend Mehraj Masih, who passed away the other day, was laid to rest on Wednesday at Jail Road cemetary.
The funeral service was held at the Cathedral Church of Resurrection, Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam. The thanksgiving service was performed by Bishop of Lahore (Emiritus) Dr Alexander John Malik, Bishop of Lahore Rt Rev Irfan Jamil, Bishop of Catholic Archdiocese of Lahore Sebastian Shah, Moderator Church of Pakistan Rt Rev Samuel Azariah, Moderator Presbetarian Church of Pakistan Arif Siraj and Chairman Full Gospel Assemblies Rev Dr Liauat Qaiser and the deceased’s son Rev Shahid Mehraj Dean of Lahore Cathedral. Thousands of Christians including heads of institutions attended the service and later the funeral procession to pay tribute to the great Christian leader. Choirs of various churches of Lahore led the singing.
Rev Miraj Masih was born on October 1, 1939 in Lahore. He began his journey as a cleric in 1968 from St Andrew’s Church in Lahore under the able guidance of renowned Rev Sidney Eagledon. In 1982 he was appointed as Vicar of St Mary’s Church in Lahore Cantt till his retirement.
