LAHORE- Defence Ministry and Punjab government today decided to install cell phone jammers in 14 jails of Punjab.
Punjab government and the federal Defence Ministry signed a two-year agreement to place jammers in the jails of the province after a meeting at Civil Secretariat in Lahore.
Speaking to journalists, IG Jail Mian Farooq Nazeer said that mobile phone jammers would be placed in Lahore, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Sialkot and Sahiwal jails. The agreement can be extended as well, Nazeer said. Nazeer also said that PCOs have already been placed for the inmates to contact their relatives. He confessed that several inmates carried out crimes by communicating with the outer world via mobile phones.
