ISLAMABAD - The defiant deposed Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry will leave for New York today on a weeklong visit to the United States of America. During his visit, Justice Iftikhar is scheduled to receive life membership of New York Bar on November 17 in recognition of his relentless struggle for supremacy of the Constitution in Pakistan. New York Bar Association is holding a special ceremony in this connection where Justice Iftikhar will be bestowed with life membership of the New York Bar. Justice Iftikhar is scheduled to fly from Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Airport at 3:00am. Senior Advocate Syed Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi is also accompanying the deposed Chief Justice while former Supreme Court Bar President Aitzaz Ahsan is already in America to welcome him. According to the schedule of his visit, Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry will also address a reception in Brooklyn on November 16. Justice Iftikhar would also be awarded Freedom Medal during a ceremony in his honour by the Harvard University. Deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar will also attend a community dinner, to be hosted by Pakistani community. Though the Pakistan Peoples Party government has failed to restore Justice Iftikhar according to its pledge under the Bhurban Accord, inked with PML-N, however Pakistan's Ambassador to the US Hussain Haqqani said that deposed Chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry would be accorded protocol of Chief Justice upon his arrival in US on Sunday. Media reports coming from Washington quoted Haqqani as saying that a senior officer Pakistani Embassy in US will receive the deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry on his behalf.
