LAHORE - Provincial Minister for Prisons Ch Abdul Ghafoor has said that political and democratic government has been established in the country and foreign investment was being made by the various investors in the country which was evident from the opening of Pak-Turk International Schools and Colleges by the Turkish government. He expressed these views while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Lahore Campus of Pak-Turk Schools and Colleges at Khyabane-e-Jinnah Road here on Saturday. Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif was supposed to attend the ceremony but he due to certain reason could not attend the same and Minister for Prisons attended on his behalf. Ambassador of Turkey in Pakistan, Engineer Soysal, Chairman Task Force on Education, office bearers of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry and others attended the ceremony. The Minister said that Pakistan and Turkey were enjoying cordial relations since long and credit goes to Kamal Ataturk who played a vital role in this regard and now we were making these relations more effective and friendly. He said that Pakistan was coming out of crises. Speaking on the occasion Ambassador of Turkey in Pakistan, Engin Soysal said Kamal Ataturk and Quaid-e-Azam had good relations and today if we are in friendship it is due to the relations of both the leaders. He said that Turkey has assured its cooperation to Pakistan in the fields of science and technology, health, education and energy. He said that certain other agreements have been signed between both the countries during the visit of Prime Minister of Pakistan to Turkey in the recent Past. He appreciated the habits of people of Lahore and said that Lahore is a beautiful city of the World. In the end the Ambassador inaugurated the school building built under the aegis of Pak-Turk International School and Colleges. PU to hold discussion The Punjab University (PU) will hold a discussion on 'Educational Institutions and Wings of Political Parties' tomorrow (Monday) at 10:30 am in Faisal Auditorium of the New Campus. Leaders of various political parties including Jahangir Badar from the PPP, Javed Hashmi and Khawaja Saad Rafique of the PML-N, Imran Khan from the PTI, Liaquat Baloch from JI and renowned journalist Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami as well as columnist Hassan Nisar will address on the occasion while PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran will preside the ceremony. Students have been instructed to bring their student identity card otherwise they would not be allowed to enter the auditorium. However, keeping in view the interest of the students, the discussion will be shown on multimedia screens outside the auditorium. A meeting under the chairmanship of PU VC was held to finalise the arrangements at the New Campus on Saturday. A committee was also constituted in this regard. Deans and Principal Officers also attended the meeting.
