LAHORE - Some PML-Q rebels met former President Farooq Leghari who is also a senior member of the former ruling party, here on Saturday. Hamid Nasir Chattha and Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri visited the residence of Farooq Leghari. Leghari is a strong supporter of the Chaudhrys of Gujrat and stayed away from the intra-party moves in the PML-Q, mostly spearheaded by Hamid Nasir Chattha and a few members of the forward bloc. Leghari was also present alongwith his son in the recent party meetings held at the residence of Ch. Pervaiz Elahi. The party insiders told The Nation that the meeting that took place on Saturday was held on the request of Leghari. The former President asked the PML-Q dissidents to stop disintegrating the party and shun their confrontational course. Hamid Nasir Chatha is on the forefront of the efforts at changing party leadership, though his support is increasingly diminishing. During recent party meetings, the participants even asked the party leadership to get rid of the extra baggage they have been carrying since the days of Musharraf.
