LAHORE – Himayat-e-Islam Degree College for Women organised a function in connection with Iqbal Day here on Thursday.
The function was presided over by Anjuman Himayat-e-Islam President Justice (R) Manzoor Hussain Sial while Director College Lahore division Prof Naseem Akhtar was the chief guest on the occasion. Principal Himayat-e-Islam principal Prof Naz Rizvi, Mian Muneer, Ahmed Shuja Khan, Nazeer A Tariq, Mudassar Latif Raan, Riazul Haq, Saeed Qadir, Dr Nasreen Akhtar, Prof Haleema Sadia and others were also present.
On the occasion, a debate competition among the students of nine women colleges of the city was held. The students also recited Kalam-e-Iqbal. While addressing the function, the speakers said that Iqbal was advocate of women’s education. They said that Iqbal was true advocate of Islam. They also said that students should adopt discipline according to the vision of Allama Iqbal.
In debate competition students of Punjab College bagged first position collectively. They said in English debate, Soda Ibrahim, a student of Punjab College bagged first position while Sidratul Islam, student of Samanabad College won second position while, Binat-e-Shahzad of Himayat Islam Degree College, Garden Town stood on third position. In Urdu debate, Atiqa Wajid of Punjab College, Maryam Arshad, and Sadia Amanat of Himayat Islam Law College bagged first, second and third positions respectively.
