N claims Punjab transformed into ‘heaven'

MULTAN - Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has said that Pakistan's future is bright but some corrupt elements sitting in Islamabad are bent upon destroying this country."They go begging in entire world and defame Pakistan, while on the other hand the Punjab govt has refused foreign aid and promoted self-reliance," he added while addressing the participants of a function held to distribute laptops among students. He distributed 2,300 laptops and 5,000 internship letters among students and fresh graduates under Punjab CM Youth Incentive Programme.He said that Punjab was the only province of the country that had achieved self-reliance and was being run without foreign aid. "Today World Bank admits that corruption is on decline in Punjab while Washington Times writes that calamities like flood will become blessing for Pakistanis if they have administration like the Punjab Government," he claimed.He said that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took historic initiatives for the uplift of young generation and offered them vital opportunities to express their talent. He said that the youngsters of Punjab astonished entire world by making 12 world records in Punjab Youth Festival. He added that entire world praised the initiatives launched by Mian Shahbaz Sharif in the field of education as he had set up five new universities and 15 colleges in South Punjab.He said that the Punjab government created new history by promoting merit policy and now 50,000 fresh graduates were being given jobs as internees. He added that the internship would give students confidence and practical experience of work environment, helping them get good jobs in future. He said that the laptops connected Pakistani youth with international community and helped them acquire latest knowledge. He said that the youths of 26 countries participated in Punjab International Youth Festival.He said that the Punjab Chief Minister uprooted booti mafia during his 1997 era as a result of which intelligent students came forward and today the son of rickshaw driver and a bread maker topped. He claimed that the residents of other provinces also wanted development in their provinces on the pattern of Punjab.Referring to Dengue, he said that although the WHO had warned that the deadly virus could kill 25,000 people this year, the Punjab CM took it as a challenge and defeated the dengue. "Today countries like Indonesia and Brazil adopt our model," he added. He said that Mian Nawaz Sharif kicked foreign aid, made Pakistan Asian Tiger and conducted nuclear blasts despite massive foreign pressure.Speaking on this occasion, Punjab Minister for Education Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman said that the rulers of Islamabad turned the country bankrupt. "They go abroad for begging and stay in luxurious rooms rented against one million rupees per day," he maintained. He said that the laptop scheme opened the doors of latest technology and education to the students.Addressing the students, Bahauddin Zakariya University Vice Chancellor Dr Kh Alqama said that the Punjab Government's educational friendly policy put the educational institutions on path of progress. He added that the pro-education initiatives launched by the provincial government gave a new boost to the students and they exhibited amazing performance in both curricular and extra-curricular fields.Earlier, a over 16,000 students sang national anthem and broke an Indian record while a police contingent offered guard of honour to the students.
