Nine dead in unabated violence

KARACHI – Nine killed in separate acts of violence in different parts of the City on Thursday.According to police, a constable was deployed at New Sabzi Mandi police post namely Kamran Shaikh and his associate cop Asghar Ali of Ajmair Nagri Quarter police were sitting at tea stall where they saw suspicious criminal elements and started chasing them. Both the cops when reached within the remits of Sachal police station, they were trapped and killed by the assailants. Culprits also took away the pistol and motorbikes of the policemen while the bodies were lying near the Wilayat Shah Shrine where residents saw and informed the police. Police reached the spot and shifted the bodies to the hospital. Police suspected fanatic religious elements behind the incident.In another incident, some extremists attacked a brothel house located at Sector 14/C Baldia Town within the remits of Saeedabad police station.Police said that gunmen barged into the house and sprayed bullets indiscriminately. A woman Zulaikha was killed on the spot while two other women and a man Waseem were wounded. Police suspected that extremist elements were behind the incident.  Three men were gunned down near old Sabzi Mandi within the jurisdiction of PIB Colony police station. Police said that the victims namely Jawaid Pathan, Nizamuddin and Ashfaq were doing construction business in PIB area where gunmen riding a motorbike intercepted the car and resorted to indiscriminate firing. Assailants were managed to flee while taking away the cell phones of the victims. Police rushed to the spot after being informed and shifted them to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctor pronounced the deaths of Jawaid and Nizamuddin while Ashfaq succumbed to injuries during treatment. A bullet-riddled body of a man found from Ghaziabad within the precincts of Manghopir police station. Police said that the victim was kidnapped from somewhere by unidentified culprits who threw the body after brutal torture. The body was shifted to morgue for identification after autopsy at ASH.Another tortured-mark body of a man was found from North Naizmabad Block-H within the limits of Hyderi police station. Police said that the identification of the victim has yet to be ascertained while body was shifted to morgue after autopsy.A woman’s strangulated body was found from Rund Goth within the remits of Quaidabad police station. Police said that unidentified culprits kidnapped the victim from somewhere and later threw her body at said place. The identification of the victim could not be ascertained. Police shifted the body at morgue for identification after postmortem at JPMC.Moreover, police claimed to have foiled a bank robbery in Keamari area on Thursday.According to the detail, police said at least five armed men entered into the local bank branch situated in Bhutta Village within the jurisdiction of Jackson police station. Bandits were looting the money when police reached on the spot and exchange of fire between the police and bandits were took place. Bandits managed to flee during an exchange of fire while police claimed that a bandit was sustained bullet wounds but his accomplices were managed to take him away. Police claimed to have recovered a shotgun and a TT pistol bandits left during encounter.
