MAILSI - DPO Shakir Hussain Dawar has said the police have finalized a comprehensive security plan to maintain peace and ensure security for Majalis, processions and around Imambargahs during the holy month of Muharramul Harram.

He said this while inspecting routes of processions and Imambargahs here in Tehsil Mailsi the other day.

Talking to the media, the DPO said that 14,000 police personnel besides Pak Army would be deployed during Muharram to maintain peace.

The police force will provide security to Majalis, and processions to be arranged all over district while units of Pak Army and Rangers would remain on-call to cope with the situation in case of any emergency, he added.

He said that wall chalking, distribution of hatred and provocative literature had been banned while Peace Committees would remain in close liaison with the intelligence and police committees and religious leaders at district level.

He said that it was decided that video and still photo coverage in case of any untoward incident would also be ensured for the prosecution purposes.

He also directed the district police to step up vigilance and monitoring of all activists of banned religious parties.

The City Police SHO, Zahid Ahmad Khan Sherwani, Syed Naveedul Hassan Qutbi, M Yousaf Kamran, Tahir Abbas Sahoo, TMO Mian M Azhar, Chief Officer Ch Nadeen, Syed Ahsan Ellahi Shah, and Mepco SDO Ch M Akram were also presented on the occasion.
