LAHORE - Seeds of Peace is organising a two and a half day event called “Mock Parliament” at a school here from Friday till Sunday, according to a press release. Fifty-five students from 19 government, semi-government and private schools of Lahore will participate in the event. This year the students will be simulating the US Congress (House of Representatives). The students will act as elected members of the US Congress and will adopt roles as American Representatives in the House. The pertinent issues related to America will be discussed in various committees and sub-committees. The foreign policy, homeland security, financial recession and other social issues will also be discussed while acting as member of the mock US Congress. “The event will be the result of more than a month’s extraordinary efforts of a 17-member team of dedicated youth (seeds, peace alumni, associate members and partners),” said Sajjad Ahmad, the Country Director of Pakistan who is also supervising the event.
