LAHORE – The Pakistan Embassy at United Arab Emirates (UAE) has organised an event to pay tribute to Namira Salim, the first Pakistani and first woman from the UAE to make peace at the poles and in space, and Malala Yousufzai who challenged the extremists for the sake of education.

According to a release, the Ambassador of Pakistan to UAE, Jamil Ahmed Khan organised an event to pay tribute to both shining stars that represent the strength of Pakistani women and the daring youth.

While presenting a shield to Namira Salim, Ambassador Khan said that both these ladies had given a message of peace to the whole world and have promoted the actual image of Pakistan which is moderate and peaceful in all its forms.

Namira Salim Pakistani-born, based in Dubai, carries a heavy bag of credits behind her back. Besides being the first Pakistani astronaut (2006), she holds distinction of being the “first Pakistani” at the North Pole (2007) and South Pole (2008) and the “first Asian” to skydive over Mount Everest (2008). Namira will also become the first Pakistani in space (2013). Malala Yousufzai, who had recently survived an assassination attempt, had shown through her diaries the eagerness of young girls to study in schools.

Ambassador Jamil Khan added that Malala had shown tremendous recovery due to her will power.
