EFU Life wins award
KARACHI (PR): EFU Life Assurance’s Annual Report 2015, ‘The Anatomy of Life’, was awarded 1st Runners Up for the Best Corporate Report (BCR) Award 2015 in the Non-Banking Financial Institution Category. This ranking is declared by Joint Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and Institute of Cost & Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP). Abida Hasanali, Senior Marketing Manager, EFU Life Assurance, received the award on behalf of the company.
This is the fourth consecutive year when EFU Life has been nominated in the top five best corporate reports in the Non-Banking Financial Institution (NBFI) category.
The category comprises of the insurance industry, both life and general insurance, Modaraba’s, asset management companies and leasing companies.
ICAP and ICMAP have been awarding the Best Corporate Report (BCR) Awards for the last 15 years. This award recognizes the companies for best presented accounts, improvement in transparency, accountability and governance.

BOP, UBER ink MoU
LAHORE (PR): Uber and the Bank of Punjab have signed a memorandum of understanding whereby both have consented to work together for over 50,000 Green Cab and Yellow Cab customers to bring them on Uber platform. Safeeullah Shah, GM Uber, and Salman Alam Shah, Head RFD BOP, signed MoU on behalf of their organizations.
All customers consented to opt for Uber platform will require to apply and undergo Uber’s prescribed training. Upon completion of which, each individual will be able to use their own vehicle through Uber platform. GM Uber Pakistan said, “The partnership looks forward to build on the flexibility, entrepreneurial opportunity and earning potential of Uber’s innovative technology along with BOP’s financial expertise to bring about a positive change in the earnings of Green Cab & Yellow Cab customers”
Head Retail Finance Division, Bank of Punjab said, “BOP had provided Employment Opportunities to thousands of un-employed youth through Chief Minister Punjab Apna Rozgar (Green Cab) and Yellow Cab Schemes. Now, our program is designed to equip our Green Cab Yellow Cab customers with the right to succeed as entrepreneurs and our arrangements with Uber will enable them to earn better income for their families.

‘Black Dragon’ win

LAHORE (PR): Pakistani agency Bulls Eye/DDB has won a Black Dragon for “Best Brand Building Campaign” at Promotion and Marketing Awards of Asia 2016. This award win comes for their “Chota Bara” integrated marketing campaign on DKT’s Josh Brand.
The “Dragons of Asia” is the region’s most prestigious Marketing Communications Award Program, running in all Countries in Asia, since 2000.

Welfare Complex in Chiniot inaugurated
CHINIOT (PR): “We will provide academic facilities to Chiniot like Oxford. Medical College will be functioned soon. New opportunities for business will be provided and the city will be become the hub of economic activities.”
This was stated by Chairman Finance Committee of National Assembly Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh on the occasion of inauguration ceremony of Welfare Complex here. He said that this complex having more than six acres of land will have the best eye hospital, school and college.
500 eye patients will be examined free and more than 20 eye patients will be operated on daily basis along with 1500 youth will be facilitated with modern education. SM Munir inaugurated the ChiniotAnjuman Welfare Complex. Chairperson of TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Sheikh and others were also present on the occasion.

ACCA report discussed

LAHORE (PR): Finance professionals and ACCA members gathered together at an ACCA event in Lahore to discuss the ACCA report Indirect Taxes – Current Trends across South Asia and the UAE as well as shared insights on the effective implementation of VAT.
Discussion points were shared with the audience regarding associated changes resulting from adoption and the impact of VAT on the future of businesses.
“ACCA has produced the report Indirect Taxes – Current Trends across South Asia and the UAE from years of engaging with stakeholders who have voiced loud concern over the aggressive and ad hoc manner in which indirect taxes are being implemented and collected.
We thought we would document the region’s currents trends to start a dialogue and better understanding, appreciation and planning of indirect taxes but mainly VAT” said Arif Masud Mirza, ACCA Head of Policy for MENASA.
The report was developed by EY Pakistan in collaboration with ACCA.
